Another Hurdle Crossed!

We have been OFFICIALLY approved by our agency, and our application for advance processing of orphan petition is waiting for approval at the Department of Homeland Security. When they get around to approving our homestudy and application, they will send us a date to get fingerprinted in Charleston. This will be our last set of fingerprints (we had to get cleared through the FBI early, so those fingerprints are already out of the way...we hope! They have a tendency to reject fingerprints that aren't perfectly taken, and almost 2 months later, we are still waiting to receive our approval. If they are rejected, we get to take them again and wait some more. FUN!), and once they are cleared, we receive the last piece of paper we need to submit our dossier. Then, the real waiting begins. I'm not sure what an accurate wait time is right now to receive a referral, but we were told 6-8 months when we began the process. That, of course, is a guesstimate, and is subject to change.

In the meantime, on the adoption front, I've been keeping plenty busy filling cake keeper orders, applying for grants, and keeping all the paperwork together for our dossier. It's exciting to watch how the Lord provides as we step out on faith, knowing that we can't do this on our own!
