The story of us....

Our story is being featured on Young Wife's Guide this week!  It's really God's story, and He has graciously allowed us to be a part!

Ryan and I met in the summer of 2002, serving on staff at a missions camp. I was only 17, and we literally met the day after I graduated high school. I was loud, a little crazy, and loved to be the center of attention. Ryan was 20, and a rising junior in college. He was reserved, focused, and mature. We both went into this summer giving God our broken hearts from past relationships, and committing our hearts to Him. Little did we know that God had already prepared this summer to knit our totally opposite hearts together....

For the rest, join me over at Young Wife's Guide! Can't wait to see you there!

another mini update and reason to celebrate!

When I saw our caseworker's number pop up on my cell phone, I had two conflicting emotions all at once.

Part of me screamed that this could be our court date!

The other part of me was absolutely certain this was a phone call for more paperwork!

I stared at my phone for a second, not wanting to answer.

(Oh, and did I mention it was 11:45?  It was 11:45.  This is important only to me because I've felt that our caseworker was going to call at 11:45 with something important.  Take it for what it is.)

Finally, I answered.  We exchanged pleasantries.  I'm trying to hold in the urge to yell "WHAT IS IT!?!" into the phone like a crazy person.  Adoption: it keeps you on edge, people!

After the 15 longest seconds of my life, our caseworker told me that while she didn't have a court date, she did have some great news to keep us updated.

The judge has all our documents!  YAY!

She is very pleased!  Super YAY!

The only thing needed now is for Hudson to get his medical exam updated, so it will be current for court.   The only day they do those is on Thursday.

Get this- they were able to get him in TODAY for the medical exam!  YAY times 1000!

His updated medical will make it to the judge tomorrow or Monday, and then the judge is able to issue us a court date.  (Again, as long as all goes according to plan.  We all know how this process works!)  They expect the court date to be at least two weeks out.

So, our prayer is that we will know when our court date is by next week.  And then we can get the wheels turning to go and fight for Hudson!

Getting closer, for sure!!  We are so thankful for how God is orchestrating this story, and making His great name known.  He deserves all the praise and glory!

the latest...

While there may not be a lot to update in the waiting times, every miniscule amount of progress is worth celebrating.  So, we'll celebrate!

The document the judge requested has made it's way over the ocean, and will be delivered to her by the end of the week!  I'm still not quite sure how it arrived so quickly, but as a dear friend reminded me, it's all God's working, as only He could orchestrate something this chaotic into something beautiful.

In the meantime, I've joined up with #shereadstruth, and it is such a blessing to this tired and weary heart.  Check it out here and join this awesome community of women seeking hard after Christ:

I'll leave you with this truth from His word that ministered greatly to my heart last night:

"This I know: God is on my side!  I praise God for what He has promised; yes, I praise the LORD for what He has promised."  -Psalm 56:9b-10
